A brand encapsulates your identity, instantly conveying your message. One generally wants to hold on to your brand’s look and feel as long as possible because it’s so familiar to you and your customer base. You don’t want to risk losing recognition or spend money needlessly. And sometimes brands need a refresh. Does your logo or tagline say enough about what you provide?
Know your targeted audiences as well as what defines you and makes you stand out among competitors, so clients come to YOU.
You can begin your process of creating or refreshing the essence, look and feel of your business with these 7 Branding Questions:
1. What is your business, service or product?
2. What are you offering your audiences?
- Nuts & Bolts: What modalities do/will you use?
- Experiential: What experiences do/will your clients have?
3. What are your business agendas/goals for
- right now (3m-6m)
- short term (6m-1yr)
- long term (1-3yrs)
- or more (5y & 10yr)
4. What is your business name and tagline? (i.e. What is the sentence or two that comes out of your mouth when someone asks you “So, what do you do?”) If you do not have these what are your ideas?
- Is your business name clear?
- Does your logo tagline say enough about what you provide?
5. Who are your targeted audiences? Name at least three.
6. How are you getting business?
- How are you advertising?
- What collateral/marketing materials are you using? (If you have samples, also bring them along for further evaluation.)
- How are you networking (online/offline) expanding your contacts list/list of interested leads?
- **What could you do that have not done yet or are afraid to do to grow your network or reach beyond your current communities?
7. Who are your competitors? What makes you unique?
Optional: Research 3-5 competitors to understand their messaging and what they are promoting as their unique offerings and how they differ from one another. List these unique offerings and differences out in columns along with one column for you. What are your unique offerings and differences?
